Mission

SLDT -The Academy, established in 2008, serves as a permanent home allowing the company to invest in the artistic, creative and educational needs of the Queens community. Directed by Janna Naylor (former Principle Dancer, SLDT), the Academy is a long-term, innovative, exploratory learning center for children and adults that will bring the joy of the performing and fine arts to the community. SLDT - The Academy’s mission is to offer professional dance instruction and arts education to a diverse income area that is lacking in the arts, cultural and community activity.

Programming includes:
• Classes available (Pre-K & Up) in Ballet, Modern Dance, Musical Theatre Jazz, Hip hop, Drama/Acting, Music, and Fine Arts.
• Private preparation classes available for Performing Arts High School & University Auditions
• Wedding Dance Needs
• Studio Rental for Classes/Rehearsals/Parties& All Events
• Free Sunday Arts Performances/ Outdoor Queens Dance Festival
